Pascal Lily

20×20 prints are $1,500
30×30 prints are $3,000

This lovely little pascal lily was planted by me in our home garden in Oregon. It is underneath a hazelnut tree which I also planted. You can see the dried leaves from that tree scattered around the pascal lily.

This photo was taken in 1986 at the height of the pascal lily’s glory; it never looked better than this before or afterwards. The spring morning was overcast, typical for this part of Oregon that time of year. I photographed it used my 250mm Superachromat lens with an extension tube to enable close focusing with my Hasselblad camera on a tripod and used Fujichrome 50 film.

I first made a Cibachrome print of this image in 1994. The soft light plays on the flower blossoms and pairs well with their delicate beauty. To me this pascal lily seems to be rejoicing with thanksgiving for another exuberant year of life.
